T-Mobile buys MetroPCS to Merge as One Company

T-Mobile Buys MetroPCS to Merge as One Company

T-Mobile and MetroPCS have successfully completed the merger both wireless carriers set out on last year. The deal is confirmed in the newly-merged company’s fact sheet and investor page, the deal combines T-Mobile 34 million T-Mobile user and 9 million MetroPCS users. It was first reported that the merger was nearing finalization yesterday, and both companies’ investor pages verified the new company will trade on the NYSE under the symbol TMUS. How does it effect the customers? That’s a questions that many customer will be (and should be) asking. I think it’s a good thing for MetroPCS customer because a bigger carrier has taken over MetroPCS which means that they will be getting better coverage as T-Mobile might use it’s towers to provide service. One of things that I like is that it’s GSM, so T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers can switch phone. Before MetroPCs was CDMA and did not have sim cards, but after T-Mobile has taken over MetroPCS, MetroPCS has transitioned into GSM network, so it can benefit from T-Mobile. Which also enabled customer to bring their own devices (BYOD) to MetroPCS.
